Face Paint

We solute those who past on before us.  Some have left an imprint on our lives.  I once was soluted because I stood up for what was right.  Some time we die; some times we do not for standing for what is right.    The flag stands for some thing more than the red white and blue.  Do what you do means being true to one self.   Standing for the light and remembering those who past on before us gives us the challenge and courage to do what is right.

Wisdom: No matter what we paint our face on the outside, we only are what we are inside.  Today I was asked to paint faces.  Many little children came with different ideas on what they wanted panted.  They loved being someone different for a while.  Some may say who are we really in the inside? Only time will tell.

Recipe: Snack Cake mix Came from Make a Mix book ref. In my other recipes;

8-3/4 cups flour, 2 Tablespoons baking soda, 1 Tablespoon salt, 5-1/4 cups sugar

Mix all in a large bowl.  Divide into 6 portions about 2-1/3 cups each  and store in containers with tight-fitting lids.

Applesauce snack cake

1 plg. snack cake mix. 1 egg. 1/3 c oil. 3/4 cup applesauce. 1- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (my twist 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg) 1/2 cup nuts (peacons). 1 cup of raisins  325 degrees.  Pour snack cake mix into ungreased 8 or 9 inch baking pan.  In a bowl combine egg, oil, applesauce, cin, nutmeg.  beat with a fork to blend.  Stir into snack cake mic until smooth, and blended.  Add nuts and raisins.  Bake 35 to 45 min until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.  Cool.  Makes 9 servings.

There will be other recipes for using cake mix.

Parenting: When all else fails remember when you are feeling at lost “sing”.  Once I could not bare my work a lady used words that I did not want to hear.  I remembered something I once read or heard: music soothes the savage beast.  And sometimes even our children seem at times a beast but the singing calms us down and it throws the child off guard.

Organizing: Think about this one concept: When we are young we collect things.  As we grow older in our 80s or 90s or before if we are wise we start getting rid of stuff.  Some of us hang onto our stuff and our children have to figure what to do with that stuff.    The sad thing is that what we thing is so valuable it not to others.  Stuff can not hold us or feed us.  If we keep food too long it molds or the cans rust and /or blow up as my tomato sauce can that I left in our attic.

My mom had a good idea every spring (or was it summer)  I just remember before school started my mom would go through our clothes and hers and kitchen stuff and give it away or throw it away.  Sure we can have a garage sale but remember that sometimes that can be an illness too.  I knew a lady who would get a present and sell it  that next week.  There was  another lady who sold it and became a gambler.

Craft:Cut some clothe into squares.  They need to be all equal. cut batting that same size and the   Hand sew 1/8 inch making a triangle.  Sew all triangles together.  You can take this with you when you have 5 min. here or there waiting for something or someone. Before you know you will have a blanket.   A lady showed this to me and I will always remember her.  She stated it is important to drink water.  She failed to as a child and as adult she was punished for not doing so.  Her teachers she said would not let her.  Water is like oil for a car.  A body needs it.  You know what happens when a car does not have oil.  Have a great day
